Chapter 5

Chris, Joey, and Lance noticed how extremely pissed Justin seemed when he stomped into the living room. The three looked at each other as if to say “you ask” as Justin plopped down on the couch.

“Hey J, you ok man?”

“Fine.” He said shortly, ripping open a book. Only to throw it down in two seconds. “What the fuck is going on with JC and Violet?”

“What?”

“Did I stutter?”

“Uh, nothing’s going on with them.”

“Bullshit.”

“What’s this all about Justin?” Lance asked, trying to figure out where all this rage was coming from.

“I asked Violet how she didn’t have a killer hangover and she said JC fixed her some drink when “we got up”. Then when I followed her to JC’s room to see what the hell she meant by that, I found JC walking around in just a towel and Violet taking off her shirt.”

“Whoa. All I know is that Violet puked all over JC’s clothes last night so he stayed there since he couldn’t very well come back in nothing while his clothes were in the wash.” Joey explained.

“Yeah, and I’m sure there’s a logical explain as to what you saw upstairs.” Chris’ serious side was coming through.

“Yeah, there’s no use blowing up about it if you don’t know what was going on.”

“It was pretty clear what was going on, or still is.” Justin spat at them as he stood up and went to the front door.

“Where you goin’ man?”

“Out.” Was all he said before the three men sitting in the living room heard the door slam shut. They just looked at each other, neither knowing what to say or do.

“I mean, it’s not that I have severe depression, I just get in these moods. Like I am depressed, but I’m not. I’m not gonna lie, I used to be. Really bad. Justin knows about that and what I went through. But I thought I was over it. My life has finally been going the way I want it to. No parents telling me what to do, to boss me around. No bastards making fun of me every waking minute and making my life total and complete hell. And I actually have friends. I just feel down sometimes and there’s nothing I can do to help it. I know, this must sound crazy to you.”

“No, it makes perfect sense.”

“I have been a lot better lately though. I really have been. I don’t cut myself as often as I used to. I know it’s bad that I still do, I just can’t stop myself from doing it when I’m down. And nobody ever knew either. I guess nobody really cared enough to find out, or ask about the scars.”

“You hide it well, Vi. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if you hadn’t had your arm turned a certain way when you handed me your shirt. If you didn’t hide it so well, I’m sure Justin would have known a long time ago.”

“And he would have thought I was suicidal or something and force me into a program.”

“Yeah, but it would have been for the best of intentions for you.”

“Yeah, I guess so. He’s always tried to help me.”

“He loves you kiddo.”

“I know.”

“Come on. Let’s get down there before they start to think something’s up.”

“Yeah, with Joey and Chris down there, together, they’ll think we’re screwing or something.” She laughed as JC slightly blushed.

“Hey, where’s Justin?”

“Uh, he kinda sorta left.”

“He left? Where’d he go? Why?”

“He was a little upset and just said he was going out.”

“What was he upset about?” JC asked.

“Uh, you really wanna know?”

“He wouldn’t have asked if he didn’t, Joey.”

“Well, he seemed a little pissed about you taking your shirt off in front of JC upstairs while he was just walking around in a towel.” Joey said, eying Violet in JC’s shirt.

“What? That’s ridiculous. JC accidentally spilled some of his aftershave on me, which incase you haven’t noticed, I happen to smell a lot like now. I took off my shirt so he could give me a new one to wear while he threw mine in the wash.”

“Ok, see, Justin thought you were doing something completely different and less, um, innocent?”

“Just my luck. I’ll be back later guys.”

“Where you going? You don’t know where he went.”

“I know exactly where he went, JC.”

Violet climbed the ladder that led to the roof of the tallest building in all of LA. It was the place she and Justin would escape to together when they wanted to be alone, without interruption. Sure enough, there was Justin. Sitting on the edge of the building overlooking the city. Violet walked over to him and sat down beside him. They sat there in silence just looking around for a few minutes.

“How’d you find me?”

“This is our spot J. I knew you’d come here.”

“Right. I need to find a new place when I don’t wanna be found.”

“Why did you run out of the house like that? I mean, the guys told me and JC why but. What I don’t get is why didn’t you just ask us what was going on instead of jumping to conclusions?”

“I jumped to the right ones though didn’t I? God, you even smell like his aftershave.”

“That’s why I was taking off my shirt. JC spilled his bottle of aftershave all over me. I took it off so he could give me this one to wear. That’s it. And he had just gotten out of the shower. That’s why he was in a towel.”

“Oh. Man I feel like such an ass now.” Just said, burying his face in his hands.

“Yeah, well. Would it really bother you that much if JC and I did hook up?”

“Why? You thinkin’ about it?”

“No of course not. I mean, he’s JC. He’s like you, my brother. I’m just saying.”

“Oh. I honestly don’t know why I freaked out like that actually. I guess I just thought you two had been dating for a while behind my back and you know I hate it when things are kept from me.”

“Yeah. Which is why if and when I started dating someone, you would be the first to know.”

“Likewise.”

“So, we ok now?”

“Yeah. I’m really sorry, Vi.”

“It’s ok, J. Just don’t do it again.”

He laughed a little and they got up. “Come on. I only got a few more hours with you guys before you leave me again.”

“We told you, you’re always welcome on the tour.”

“I know. I just feel wierd about leaving the club. But we are getting two people for me to train so as soon as I feel comfortable enough to leave them alone with my club, I’ll join ya guys.”

“I’m holding you to that.”

“Alright.” They put their arms around each other and made their way down to their cars.

“You better call me all the time, Chris. I was mad at you cuz it was always me calling you.”

“You bet your tiny ass I will.”

“Good.” They hugged goodbye and then she moved onto Joey and Lance. After Lance, she hugged Justin.

“Bye J.”

“Bye. I’ll call you as soon as we land.”

“You better.” JC was last.

“You gonna be alright?”

“I think so.” She whispered back into his neck as they hugged.

“If you need anything, I’m here. And I mean that. I’m only a phone call away.”

“I promise.”

“Bye Violet. See you soon.”

“Not if I see you first.” She took a deep breath and looked to the other four watching them. “Bye guys. Have a good rest of the tour.”

She watched until their plane was off the runway and lost along the sky. For some reason, she just could not get “There you’ll be” out of her head.
