Chapter 1

“The Bradford brothers?”

“Hmm, well Michael was a little cutie. But Josh? That boy was the biggest loser. Haley Cura?”

“Oh I saw her a couple days ago. She grew up!”

“Did she?”

“Yeah. She’s a hottie. I would deffinitely hit that shit.”

“You are so crude.”

“I know. How about Adam Jeoffrey?”

“Yack! Are you trying to get me to puke up my ice cream?”

“Sorry.”

“Uh huh. Kelsey Masters.”

“Gay.”

“Really?”

“Yup.”

“Well that explains the whole party thing.” Her life-long friend began choking on his ice cream.

“Excuse me?”

“You didn’t know?”

“Obviously not. Spill.”

“Well, when I was a sophomore Jill dragged me to some party Kelsey was having that weekend. Anyway, I was being the usual one sitting alone off to the side. I was so shocked when she came up to me and started talking to me. All of a sudden she tells me she wants to show me something upstairs. So I’m like whatever. At least someone’s talking to me. So then she takes me into her bedroom and locks the door. I asked her why and she’s just like--no one has to know--and she totally hit on me! I thought it was some sick joke.”

“Yeah that girl has been like the biggest lesbo since sixth grade.”

“Damn.”

“Yeah. Um, Danny Evans?”

“Fuck yeah baby! That boy was the hottest guy in school!”

“What? Psh, that boy was nuttin but skin and bones.”

“Like you should be talking Mr. 'I don’t wanna eat for fear of getting fat like Chuck Douglas'.”

“I was never like that!”

“Uh huh. Whatever you say J.” She rolled her eyes at the guy. “Oh, what about her? She’s hot.”

“Nice ass.”

“Nice ass? Nice rack! I wish I had boobs like those. But then again they’re probably fake.”

“Probably. So, you change your mind?”

“Nope. I told you. I am not going with you and your loser friends. I’m quite content on staying here in LA managing the club.”

“Alright. Fine.” He gave in. “Well you ready? I gotta get home.”

“Yeah. Just let me grab my stuff.”

Violet Emerson and Justin Timberlake have been best friends since they were eight years old and Violet moved in next to the now famous singer. She was always there for him when he went to the MMC or any other pageant his mother could think of to put him in.

When he moved to Orlando, they vowed that as soon as she could, she would move out of her parents’ house and be with him everyday. Well, that didn’t happen. Instead, Violet graduated from Memphis High and went on to college. She majored in business and as soon as she graduated, she moved over to LA to start her own business. Not just any business, the new hottest night club in LA. Since Justin bought a house in LA he was always with Violet. Well, when either of them had a moment of free time.

Violet wasn’t the most popular girl in their school. Actually, that would be an understatement. After Justin left to pursue his dream, her entire world fell apart. And that was the time frame that everything happened. The Emersons had to actually take money out of their savings and fly their daughter out to Germany so she could forget about everything that was happening in Memphis.

Now, Violet’s whole world was different. She was now a skinny little girl, half Indian so she was very tan, who had this hip hop look about her. She was tall, had long dark brown hair that she could do anything with, and dark chocolate eyes. Not to mention an attitude that said 'don’t fuck with me unless you’re prepared to be humiliated, or fight, you choose'. She just would not take crap from anyone, anymore. Violet was now an all-out bad ass, on the outside, and inside. She had three tattoos, a naval ring, nose ring, and tongue ring along with her ear lobes and cartilage.

She wasn’t a girly girl either. She used to be, but after her transformation those years ago, Violet swore she would never put herself in that position again. She built walls around herself and only one person knew what lied beyond those walls. And that made them closer than ever.

Justin and Violet had the type of friendship where they could do anything and everything together, and they did. If by chance Violet actually wanted to have a semi-girl day, Justin would always be right there with her. Same for Justin. If he wanted to go out to strip club, watch porn, or just get drunk and party his ass off, Violet was right there with him. Nothing could separate them. Violet commented on girls, and Justin commented on guys. It’s just how they were.

Justin loved everything about her. From her attitude to the way she chose to express herself. He knew what she held inside and knew how hard it was for her to be away from him all the time. But she was good at hiding her feelings, not from him, but everyone else. Which was her biggest flaw, in his eyes. And she wouldn’t admit to anything, love mostly.

“Alright, you wanna come with me?”

“No. I shouldn’t have even gone to the beach. There’s way too much shit for the club I gotta get done. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Alright. We might stop in tonight.”

“Ok. See ya later.”

“Bye.”

Violet leaned over and planted a kiss on Justin’s cheek before getting out of his car and going up to her apartment.

“And where have we been all day?”

“Oh hey D. Just out with Justin.”

“I should have known.”

“Shut up.”

“Your mom called today.”

“Thanks.” Violet called to her roommate as she walked down the hallway to her bedroom.

Violet went straight into her bathroom and stripped to take a shower. As she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but to look at the scar on her back. The one that stood out from the others. Violet shook her head and walked towards the shower as she felt the tears well up in her eyes once again.
