Chapter 5
"Are you serious?" Sabrina looked at Wade, her mouth agape.
"Yes, Sabby, I'm serious. You've really proved yourself this past year that you've worked for me. I've been waiting a long time to find someone I can really trust, and you'll do the job nicely. I have pretty much everything choreographed already, I'll just need to teach you. That way when I can't be here, you can run the rehearsal." Wade explained.
"Wow." Sabrina whispered.
"The guys will be here in an hour so I thought I'd bring you in early and explain everything. I know you're a fast learner so for the most part you'll be learning as you go. They're not playing any new songs, just the old ones, but we're revamping the choreography." Wade explained.
"Well teach away Master Yoda." Sabrina smirked.
"Haha, funny you're not." Wade shook his head.
The door opened as Sara and Stacy walked in.
"What are you guys doing here?" Sabrina smiled when she saw her two most promising students.
"We made the backup list." Sara explained.
"You held auditions already?" Sabrina asked looking at Wade.
"No, just these two. They came highly recommended." Wade winked at Sabrina. "They'll participate in the audition, but they'll already be accepted. Nobody else will know."
"Well thank you." Stacy smiled.
"Come on, lets get started." Wade said moving to the stereo.
They were shown the positions and learned the choreography for Girlfriend before the first of the guys came in.
JC came in and started stretching. He watched Wade work with three girls one of whom looked really familiar.
"Hey man who are the girls?" Justin asked sitting next to him to stretch.
"No idea, dances I'm sure." JC answered raising an elbow over his head.
"That's Sabrina." Justin said spotting her familiar face.
"I knew I recognized her, I just wasn't sure where." JC nodded.
"Sabrina, what are you doing here?" Justin asked jogging over.
"What's it look like?" she answered.
"Looks to me like you're doing Girlfriend." Justin smirked.
"Wow, you just don't miss a thing do you?" Sabrina asked taking a long drink of her water.
"Nope."
"Sabrina, a warning, the bitch is coming with Joey." Wade warned flipping his phone shut.
"Why?" Sabrina asked feeling her body tense.
"Joey decided that it would be futile to get gas. He ran out in his driveway and after doing so, he called Melody for a ride." Wade explained.
"Great." Sabrina rolled her eyes.
"Are my eyes deceiving me, or is our little exotic dancer here in our midst?" Chris said coming up to them.
"Hello Chris." Sabrina smiled nodding to him then punched him in the stomach.
"What was that for?" Chris said rubbing his tender stomach.
"We had this conversation yesterday, I am NOT an exotic dancer as you very well can see." Sabrina reminded him.
"What is she doing here?" an annoyed high pitch voice announced her presence.
"Great." Sabrina groaned.
"What is who doing here?" Joey asked.
"Her." Melody glared in Sabrina's direction.
Joey followed her direction and his breath involuntarily caught in his throat, before him was the girl he couldn't seem to get off his mind.
"I don't know why she's here baby, why don't you ask her." Joey said turning to his attention to his demanding girlfriend.
"That means I'd have to talk to her." Melody sniffed.
"She is your sister." Joey said making a final attempt at including Sabrina.
"Whose side are you on? Hers or mine?" Melody huffed again.
"What are you talking about Mel? I'm not taking sides." Joey shook his head.
"I love you." Melody purred wrapping her perfectly manicured hands around his neck.
Joey felt really uncomfortable when Melody pressed her lips against his, demanding him to kiss her back. He was very aware of the other guys, but more importantly he was very aware of Sabrina.
Sabrina finally allowed herself to look over to the door and when she did she witnessed Joey and Melody making out. Feeling her stomach sicken she quickly looked away.
"Get a room guys next time. Come on Joey, we need you. As for you Melody, it's time for you to leave." Wade said clapping his hands.
Joey pulled away and sub-consciously looked at Sabrina who was trying to look busy.
"Why can't I stay?" Melody asked.
"Because this is a closed rehearsal." Wade answered.
"Well then she has to leave too." Melody demanded, pointing at Sabrina.
"She doesn't have to go anywhere because she works here." Sabrina answered.
"You wish." Melody challenged crossing her arms in front of her.
"It's true, she's worked here for the past year." Wade answered.
"I believe the door is that way." Sabrina pointed to the door behind her.
"Ugh." Melody said obviously annoyed.
"Buh-bye." Sabrina waved with her fingers.
Melody huffed a bit more as she made her way out and was sure to slam the door behind her. There was a tense silence as everyone watched the door until Sabrina broke the silence.
"Bitch!" Sabrina's voice rang the thought running through everyone's mind. "Think's she owns everything."
"All right, guys come over here." Wade said ushering everyone together.
"You all know Sabrina, she's going to be helping me out. She will have just as much power and voice as I would so you are required to do what she says and listen to her. These two ladies are going to be two of your five dancers, I have already selected them, but they will still go thru the audition process. Stacy and Sara respectively." Wade explained and introduced the two girls. "Any questions?"
"Can we ban Melody?" Justin asked.
"Any legitimate questions?" Wade questioned ignoring Justin.
Nobody else had anything to say so they were quick to get down to business.
"We're going to work on Girlfriend first, most of the steps are the same, but I did tweak it some. Everyone get into your places, I'm going to pair the girls with some of you." Wade instructed.
They got into position then Wade placed Stacy with Chris as they were the same heigh,t while Sara was closest to Lance's height, so she was partnered with him.
"This looks good." Wade smiled satisfied with the placements.
"What exactly do you want me to do?" Sabrina asked.
"That's right, sorry." Wade thought for a moment. "Go with Joey for this one, and we'll just have to you swap between the three of them until we get the other dancers."
"Aye aye cap'n." she saluted.
"Howdy partner." Joey said trying to lighten the mood.
Sabrina just nodded and turned her attention to Wade, she wasn't in the mood to deal with her sisters boyfriend.
Joey sighed and knew it was going to be a long day if she was going to ignore him the whole time.
They worked hard on Girlfriend for the next few hours and had it down when they took a fifteen minute break around ten thirty.
"Sabrina, I need to speak with you." Wade said motioning her over.
"You beckoned." Sabrina smirked, standing in front of him.
"The girls for the auditions are starting to arrive and I want you to go run that." Wade answered.
"You want me to RUN an audition by myself?" Sabrina asked.
"Yes'm, I know you can do it because you've helped me many times. You can handle it." Wade assured her.
"You're throwing me into everything new." Sabrina shook her head. "I don't even know what I'm going to do about school yet."
"You'll be able to attend classes. It's the end of April, by the time the tour starts you'll be done with school." Wade reminded her.
"I suppose that would give me an excuse not to take classes in the fall." Sabrina nodded.
"You will be doing a lot more work around here, so it would be a good idea not to have school to deal with." Wade agreed.
"When does the tour start?" Sabrina asked.
"It starts June 1st and goes through August 31st." Wade answered.
"That's good to know." Sabrina nodded.
"Okay, take Sara and Stacy down to Studio B. Auditions start at eleven. I expect about a hundred girls to show up, you know the drill--start with free style then teach them what you learned today and pick the three best dancers. I'll pop in from time to time just to make sure you're doin' okay." Wade explained. "Any questions?"
"I think I got it." Sabrina answered shaking her head..
"Good, you're free to get things set up." Wade dismissed her.
"I'm going to have Stacy and Sara help me." Sabrina added.
"I figured you would, but that's fine by me." Wade nodded.
"Thanks."
"Now scat." Wade pointed to the door.
"Come on ladies." Sabrina said to Stacy and Sara.
"This should be fun." Stacy smiled taking Sabrina's elbow.
"Something like that." Sabrina nodded.
They went into Studio B and quickly set up what they needed. They put a long table at the front for the judges and set up the CD player next to it. By the time it was eleven, just as Wade had expected there were over a hundred girls waiting.
"This is going to be a long day." Sabrina sighed as she felt a headache starting in her temples.
"It won't be so bad." Stacy assured her.
"Ladies, may I have your attention please." Sabrina said in a loud voice to be heard over the din.
Everyone went silent and turned their attention to the petite girl in the front.
"You are all here to audition for a major US tour. It will be hard work and will require serious dedication until the end of the summer. I'll be up front with you now, if you're only here to get a glimpse of Nsync and what not, I ask you to please leave now." Sabrina explained looking at all the faces staring back at her.
About twenty of the girls took their stuff and left the room.
"All right, now that we've got you serious ones let me explain how this is going to work. I want to see each of you individually, but before we do that, I want to teach you a dance. We'll teach you the dance and then we'll take each of you individually for a two minute free style then we will bring you back in groups of ten to do the dance you learn."
Sara looked at Sabrina and smiled in surprise. She'd done a few auditions before, but never had they been required to learn the dance and wait 'til after free style to dance it.
"She's nuts." Stacy whispered to Sara.
"I think it's brilliant, it'll show the truly talented ones." Sara shook her head.
"That's true I guess. I have to admit though, I'm glad we're not doing this." Stacy added.
"I'm glad you're not doing it too, because that means I'd be on my own." Sabrina shuddered.
The girls were very attentive as Sabrina taught them the steps to Girlfriend. It took about an hour to go over everything and when all was said and done, they were doing the dance fluently. The true test would be, however, when they came back after freestyle.
Sabrina called for a quick break while she set everything up for the individual dances. She grabbed her two Andy Hunter CD's and put them in the CD player along with Nsync's celebrity and Britney's self titled CD and finally at the insistence of Stacy and Sara--Love, Angel, Music Baby by Gwen Stefani. She put it on random and pushed play.
"How's it going in here?" Wade asked entering the room.
"Good." Sabrina nodded.
"Where'd everyone go?" He asked sitting behind the table.
"We're doing free style in five minutes." Sabrina answered checking her watch.
"I thought you'd do that first." Wade looked at her quizzically.
"I taught them Girlfriend first. Now we'll do free style and then do groups of Girlfriend." Sabrina explained.
"Wow, not even I would have thought of that." Wade said with a hint of admiration in his voice.
"You said I could do it how I wanted to, besides, they'll have to learn and remember things quickly for the tour." Sabrina defended.
"Hey it's fine with me honey, calm down." Wade patted her shoulder.
"Dude, I'm starving." Sara complained rubbing her stomach.
"Yeah, me too." Sabrina agreed.
"I just sent the guys to lunch, I could have them bring you back something." Wade suggested getting out his phone.
"Yes, where did they go?" Stacy asked.
"I believe I heard Subway, I'll call and find out. Write what you want and if nothing else I'll go get it myself. You ladies are doin' me a huge favor by runnin' this." Wade smiled.
The girls wrote down exactly what they wanted from Subway while Wade called the guys. Moments later Wade returned and took their order.
"They'll take the order and bring it back for you ladies." Wade explained.
"Tell them to hurry, my insides are starting to eat each other." Stacy whined.
"Stace that's disgusting." Sabrina wrinkled her nose.
"Looks like the troops are starting to get anxious," Sara said coming back in the room.
"You can send the first one in." Sabrina answered grabbing the remote for the stereo.
"Hello, I'm Jaime." the first girl greeted coming into the room.
"Hey Jaime, I'm Sabrina. This'll work pretty simple, I'm going to play two minutes of a song and you'll dance to it." Sabrina smiled.
"Fair enough." Jaime nodded.
Sabrina pushed play on the CD player and the first song that came on was 'Go' by Andy Hunter.
"Sorry, I have to fast forward the beginning, it starts out slow." Sabrina smirked sheepishly.
"No problem." Jaime said completely relaxing.
"Way to break the tension eh?" Stacey laughed.
"No kidding." Jaime agreed.
"Here we go." Sabrina said letting the CD play.
They watched Jaime dance with such passion and mood that they let her go for more than just two minutes.
"That'll be all thanks." Sabrina said stopping the music. "You can send in the next girl too."
"Dude, if they're all that good, we're S.O.L." Sabrina said when Jaime left.
"I know right." Sara nodded.
They had another thirty girls before the food came. They were in the middle of an audition when Justin and Joey came in with a pile of food. They stood in the door looking guilty for interrupting the audition.
"That'll be all thank you, Lisa." Sabrina smiled at the young girl.
"Thank you." Lisa nodded.
"Get that over here." Sara demanded.
"I'm going to let the girls know they can take an hour lunch." Sabrina said getting up.
"You're pure evil." Wade chuckled.
"Why do you say that?" Sabrina asked.
"You're making them wait longer." Wade answered.
"I need food and so do they." Sabrina nodded to Stacy and Sara. "We've been here since six am and it's now one pm and we haven't eaten at all."
"I know hon, I'm just giving you grief." Wade said giving her a side hug.
Sabrina went out and informed the girls of their hour lunch to which they all seemed to be relieved about.
"How'd they take it?" Wade asked when she'd returned.
"No threats or anything. They actually seemed relieved."
"They have an hour to relax, I'd be happy about it too." Stacy said after taking a bite of her sandwich.
"Stace, please, we don't need to see that." Sara complained.
Stacy just shrugged and continued to eat.
"Dig in woman." Justin told Sabrina who was still busy writing.
"I'm getting there, I have to write this down while its fresh in my head." Sabrina waved him off.
"What are you writing?" Joey asked leaning over her shoulder.
Sabrina turned her head at the voice and found his face mere inches from hers. She felt butterflies in her stomach and forced herself to concentrate on an answer.
"Just a little something about the last dancer." she answered.
"What did you say?" Wade asked leaning over her other shoulder.
"Why is everyone hovering?" Sabrina asked covering her papers.
"Because we wanna see." Wade said kissing her cheek.
Sabrina looked up at him with an eyebrow raised in question.
"What?" Wade shrugged.
"Why are you being so nosy?" Sabrina questioned.
"These will be my dancers too you know." Wade reminded her.
"Would you like to take over them Mr. Bossman?" Sabrina asked sitting back in her chair.
"No, you've got it under control. Now put the pen down and eat." Wade said taking the pen away.
Joey then grabbed her sandwich and set it in front of her. "Eat." he said softly.
"I feel so bullied." Sabrina smirked unrolling her sandwich.
"Well you've been here for over seven hours without food, you've got to be famished." Joey said trying to sound casual.
"Thank you all for your concern, but I'm fine." Sabrina smiled before taking a large bite of her sandwich.
"Are there a lot of potentials yet?" Wade asked.
"The first girl we saw was by far the only talented one we've seen. I'm hoping there will be another two." Sabrina answered.
"Well find at least one other good one, you can always make the fifth." Wade smiled evilly.
"I am a helper, a behind the scenes kinda gal." Sabrina glared at him, daring him to comment further.
"I'm just sayin." Wade said holding up his hands.
"Yes, dance with us Sabrina." Justin added.
"Thanks, but no thanks." Sabrina snickered.
"I thought you liked us, do we smell funny?" Chris said from the door.
"Why do you gotta stick your nose in where it doesn't belong?" Sabrina asked briefly looking up.
"Why do you gotta be such a bitch?" Chris returned.
Sabrina just gave him the finger and turned to her sandwich.
"Harsh." Chris said holding a hand over his chest.
"You like it harsh." Lance said smacking him upside the head.
"What is this a party?" Sabrina asked seeing JC enter behind Lance.
"Yes." Chris nodded.
"Did I ask you?" Sabrina glared at Chris.
"The Laser Eyes are going to burn thru me." Chris said ducking behind Lance.
"Get out of here you freak." Lance said pushing him away.
"No love." Chris pouted.
"We already had this conversation yesterday Chrissy, you get no love now get over it." Sabrina said emotionless.
"You are mean." JC laughed.
"I'm not mean." Sabrina smiled innocently.
"Evil." Chris muttered stealing a potato chip.
"So how's the rehearsal going?" Sara asked.
"Boring without your beautiful faces." JC said flirting shamelessly.
"That's a laugh." Sabrina snorted.
"Are you saying you're not beautiful?" JC asked.
"I didn't say anything." Sabrina shrugged.
"No, but that's what you implied." JC reprimanded her.
"So." Sabrina shrugged.
"You're hot." Justin added.
"Shut up." Sabrina said hating the attention.
"Yeah, dude, I'd do you." Wade smirked.
"Wade!" Sabrina said punching his arm.
"What?" Wade asked rubbing his shoulder.
"You did not just say that."
"But I did, wouldn't you guys do her?" Wade asked the others.
"Yep." JC agreed.
"I'm refraining." Justin shook his head.
"Me too." Chris nodded.
"Why are we talking about this?" Lance asked taking note of Sabrina's face.
"Because Sabby doesn't think she's beautiful." Chris answered.
"She is so wrong though. She's not only beautiful on the outside, but her sweet and caring personality makes her every man's desire." Joey said holding her gaze.
"Wow." Wade said feeling the intensity between the two.
"Finish eating." Joey said breaking their moment.
Sabrina focused her attention to her sandwich and tried to ignore the warmth of Joey sitting on her left.
