The next morning, I woke up to hear familiar voices from downstairs. When the voices became clearer and louder, I knew immediately my sisters were fighting over something or arguing over something. It was one thing I did not miss when I moved out.
With a sigh, knowing I won’t be able to go back to sleep. I went downstairs, my sisters Amber, Alex, Annie and Allison were there in the foyer, still arguing. I shook my head and walked around them to the kitchen.
Seeing me out of the corner of her eye, Annie called my name and looked at her sisters before they all ran into the kitchen.
Pealing myself an orange, I turned to my sisters. “What’s y’alls problem?”
My sisters all sat down around the kitchen table and Amber said, “Ashley and April got us all two tickets to a summer fashion show in Europe on June 17th. All the BIG designers will be there…and since you’re not into the whole fashion thing we were kind of hoping you would give one us your two tickets.”
I gave Amber a look and then to my other sisters. “Why do you want my tickets? If we each got two-”
“We all have someone who is dying to go to this fashion show,” said Annie. “You having these tickets are a waste because you won’t use these. You hate fashion.”
I looked at Annie. “What happened to you? You were such a sweet kid.” She gave me a dirty look.
Alex smiled at me. “So will you give us your tickets?”
“Whatever,” I said, standing up. “Where are Mom and Dad?”
“Who CARES!” shouted Annie. “Are you giving me and Allison your tickets or not?”
Alex turned to her sisters and with her hands on her hips said. “What makes you think she’s giving the tickets to you and Allison? She’s giving the tickets to me and Amber.”
Annie put her hands on her hips. “Why would she give the tickets to you guys? Allison and I are the models!”
“Well apparently not good ones,” said Alex “because Ashley and April were the ones who were offered the tickets!” Annie mouth dropped. “Besides Amber and I are older! We should get the tickets!”
“Well we’re younger!” shouted Allison.
“Well we’re prettier!” shouted Alex.
“Well we’re-” Allison narrowed her eyes at Allison. “I’m not falling for that one again!”
“What’s with all the screaming and yelling?” asked Liz as she walked into the kitchen yawning softly and lifting her arms above her head to stretch.
“Oh, I’m sorry, did my sisters wake you?” I asked Liz, pretending to act concern. “They woke me up too.” Liz chuckled softly and shook her head. She then followed me to the fridge.
“Adrienne, you have to give me and Allison your tickets,” Annie said in a pleading tone.
Without turning around to my sister, I said, “I don’t have to give you anything.” I glanced at Liz who was beside me. “You see anything good to eat?”
“How are you fine ladies doing this morning?” Christian said, walking into the kitchen.
I turned to Christian and gave him a look, a look telling him I did not like him. “Don’t you knock?” I said.
“He has a key,” said Allison.
My eyes widen. “HE HAS A KEY? Do Mom and Dad know?”
“Uh, yeah,” she said sarcastically.
I slammed the fridge door close. “I don’t believe this.”
Allison placed her hand on her hip and looked at me with an attitude. “What’s your problem?”
I gestured to Christian. “Your boyfriend. He’s twenty-one years old!”
“So what? Are you jealous?”
“Me jealous? No, I’m, I’m…” I threw my hands up in the air. “I don’t know what I am…but I know one thing. Mom and Dad are both hypocrites! I can’t understand why I’ve been-” I stop myself and looked at my sisters. “One of you could have at least called me and told me that Ashley and JC are dating now.” I left the kitchen pushing pass my sisters.
“Adrienne, wait!” Liz called out as she went after me.
The sisters looked at each other. Allison spoke first, “I thought Adrienne knew about Ashley and JC?”
Amber let out a sigh. “Apparently not. Dammit Ashley.”
