“Will you be okay?” I gave Liz a reassuring smile. “I’ll be fine.” I looked over at Justin. “You better bring her back in one piece pretty boy.”
Liz laughed, and Justin smiled. “I’ll have her back by midnight.”
I waved Justin off with a flick of my hand. “Whenever, I really don’t care. I just want her back before rent is due.” They laughed and I walked into the house. I looked around I could hear my sisters talking in the kitchen. “I home!” I called to them. I went to the stairs to run up, but stopped half way when the front door flew open and Ashley rushed in crying. Soon after JC came running in after her.
Hearing all the commotion, Amber, Alex, Annie, and Allison came running into the foyer.
Amber was first to speak. “What happened?”
JC looked at the girls, and then looked at me and then back again. “Girls, this is between me and your sister. Could you please give us some privacy?”
We nodded and turned to leave, but Annie halted and glanced back. She put her hands on her hips and took her usual cocky stance. “This isn’t about last night is it?”
Hearing Annie, I froze mid-step and felt the blood drain from me.
JC eyes went from me to Ashley to Annie. “Annie, nothing happen last night.”
She smirked. “I wouldn’t say that.” She titled her head up to look at me. “How about you, Adrienne?”
Ashley wiped her tears and looked at Annie and then at me. “What happened last night?”
“Nothing,” I said. “Nothing happened last night.”
Ashley gave me a confused look and turned to JC. “Did something happen last night?” Her eyes filled with tears. “Is there another girl?”
JC looked at Ashley as he thought how to answer. “I…” He paused for a moment, but a moment too long.
“You JERK!” Ashley screamed and threw the first thing she could get her hands on at JC, which was an empty vase. He dodge it quickly.
“Ashley, let me explain,” said JC, his voice a little shaken. “I didn’t mean for the kiss to happen.”
“YOU KISS THE GIRL?!” Ashley screamed. She took off her high heel and lunged it at him, hitting him in the leg.
“DAMMIT, ASHLEY! Let me explain!” yelled JC.
“There’s nothing to explain! You cheated on me with another girl! Who is she?! Do I know her?!”
Annie smirked. “Oh, I’m pretty sure you know her.”
Ashley turned to her sister. “I do? Who is she?”
With a flick of her wrist she pointed at me. “Your very own sister.”
In the meantime, I had come back downstairs and I was standing at the bottom step. I looked over at Annie, who was pointing at me with an evil grin on her face. I then turned to Ashley, who looked as if wanted to tear me from limb from limb.
Quickly, I turned to run back upstairs, but got only half way when I felt my sister tackle me. The screaming, shouting and kicking started as I tried to get away and Ashley tried to kill me for cheating with her boyfriend.
“Ashley, Adrienne, stop it! Stop fighting!” Alex shouted as she ran up the stairs to pull us apart.
“JC, make them stop!” shouted Amber. “You started this, so you make them stop!”
He rushed up the stairs and pulled Ashley and me apart. “Girls, you need to stop this! You’re sisters for crying out loud!”
“She’s not my sister!” said Ashley as she pushed herself away from JC. “No sister of mine would kiss my boyfriend!”
I pointed to myself. “I didn’t kiss him! He kissed me!”
“Adrienne?”
Hearing my name, I turned and saw Jonathan standing in the open doorway with his duffel bag in hand. “Jonathan.”
He looked at me, his eyes were filled with hurt. “I wanted to come down and surprise you, but it looks like you are doing the surprising.” He turned and walked away.
“No, Jonathan, wait!” I shouted and quickly ran after him.
Ashley turned to JC. He looked confused. “What she didn’t tell you she had a boyfriend? Oh yeah, they have been dating for almost two years now.” She turned and walked up the stairs. “Do me a favor and get the hell out of my house. I never want to see your face again.”
JC walked slowly down the stairs and stopped in the doorway. He turned to Annie who was watching him and then she turned away and disappeared into the kitchen.
