Forbidden Love
Chapter 6

I laughed out loud and tossed a piece of food at JC. He laughed and said, “I’m glad you changed your mind about coming today.”

I smiled to myself and looked down at my plate. “Me too I’m having fun.”

“When’s you’re birthday?”

I looked up at JC. “Why?” I asked curiously.

“Just curious.”

“It’s in May.”

“May huh? That’s a long time from now.”

I laughed. “Yeah it is.”

JC smiled to himself and looked down for a Moment. “So …” I smiled. “How was your first week of school?”

I rolled my eyes. “Miserable. I missed my friends.”

“Is that all or is school itself bad?”

“Well school is OKAY, but it would be a lot better if I had my best friends with me.”

He nodded understanding. “Have you made any new friends?”

“I made a few and, uh, a few enemies.”

“Enemies already?” JC chuckled softly. “Boy you work fast.”

“It wasn’t my fault. A few girls are jealous of me because Thursday, Mark Daly the “track star” walked up to my locker and asked me out for Friday night.” I rolled my eyes. “Whatever.”

JC smiled, hiding the jealously he felt inside. “So you turned him down?”

“Are you crazy? Mark Daly the “track star” asked me out. I went out with him last night.” I laughed.

“Oh you did? How did it go?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “It was all right. He’s not really my type.”

“But you still went out with him?”

“Yeah because he’s Mark Daly the-”

“Track star. I know. What is your type?”

I shrugged my shoulders and said, “I don’t know I figure I’ll know when I see him.” I rested my elbows on the table and my chin on my knuckles. “I believe in love at first sight, so I figured when I see that guy he’ll be my type.” I smiled at JC. He smiled back. “I know it sounds ridiculous.”

“No it doesn’t. Not to me.”

I smiled. “Do you believe in love at first sight?”

JC smiled at me and rested back into his chair. He stared at me for a moment; his eyes watching my every move. Finally he said, “I have to tell you something.” He leaned forward in his chair and folded his arms on the table and leaned on them. “I lied to you.”

I gave him confused look. “What?”

“I didn’t ask your Dad if I could show you around LA.”

My face dropped. “What?”

“I’m sorry, please don’t be mad. I wanted to, uh, I guess spend the day with you and get to know you. I knew you would never agree to go out with me because I’m older.”

”So you tricked me into spending the day with you?!” I practically shouted causing everyone in the restaurant to turn to us.

JC looked around. He then turned back to me. “Adrienne, please don’t get upset.”

Realizing something I said, “Oh my God I walked out of my house without telling my parents where I went. They’re probably worried sick.” I stood up. “I should go.”

“Adrienne…”

“JC, next time just be honest with me. I’ll have my sisters cover for me. We cover for each other all the time. Now I better go I’m probably grounded for a month because of you.” I turned to leave.

“Wait,” JC said, reaching for my hand. I turned back to him. “I’m sorry.”

I sighed and stared at JC for a moment before I took his cell phone from his shirt pocket. I programmed my phone number and gave it back to him. “Call me.” I smiled at him and turned and walked out of the restaurant.
