Forbidden Love
Chapter 3
“Mom Mom MOM!” I called over and over and louder and louder as I followed her around upstairs as she helped my sisters unpack their stuff.
“What is it, Amber?” she said.
I rolled my eyes. “It’s Adrienne.”
She glanced back at me as she bent down and helped Ashley and April unpack. “I’m sorry, sweetie. What do you need?”
“You said you were going to help me unpack my stuff.”
“I will later. Right now I’m helping your sisters.”
I rolled my eyes again and walked out of my sister’s room and went to my bedroom, where I had boxes scattered everywhere and no where to put them. I sighed and kneeled down beside one box and began unpacking it.
“April!” my Dad called from downstairs. “Come down stairs I need you to run a quick errand for me! April!”
“Hey Casper,” April said, poking her head into my bedroom “Dad is calling you.” She laughed and walked away.
I rolled my eyes at the fact I had been on this earth 17 years and still no one in this family knew my name. I went downstairs to my Dad’s studio and knocked once before entering. “You called me?” My Dad nodded without looking up from what he was writing.
“Yes, April….”
“It’s Adrienne.”
“What?” My Dad glanced at me.
“My name.”
He just nodded and handed me a CD. “I need you to run next door and give this to JC. He lives right next door in the white house. I called him, he’s expecting you. You can take your sister’s car.”
“No I’ll walk, why would I need her car, just to go one house over Dad?”
He gave me a surprised look which I didn’t catch. I was too busy looking at the CD. “Are you sure?”
I nodded. “What is this?”
“Just a mix I’ve been working on for him.”
I nodded and left the room and then the house. I walked down the long driveway and through the gate leading onto the street. I stayed on the sidewalk on the way to JC’s house, which was little further than I thought. Finally reaching JC’s home I stopped in front it and admired it for a moment before walking up to front door. I rang the door bell and waited. The door opened and I smiled shyly at JC. He smiled back.
“I thought April was bringing the CD?” he asked.
I laughed softly. “My parents can never remember my name. I’m April, Ashley, Amber, Alex, Annie, and Allison. Never Adrienne.”
JC couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m use to it.” I handed JC his CD and turned to leave.
“Wait did you walk here?”
I turned back and nodded. “Yeah you just live next door, bye.” I turned to leave.
“Wait.”
I laughed and turned back around. “Yes I can drive, but I don’t have a car. I can’t get my car until my 18th birthday. Daddy’s rules.”
“You’re JUST 17?”
I made a face. “Geez it’s not that bad.”
JC laughed. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean it like that. I was just hoping you were a little older.”
“Me?” I pointed myself.
He nodded and leaned back against the doorframe and smiled. He looked at the CD. “I was hoping to ask you out, but, um, you’re a little too young.”
My eyes widened in shock. Was I hearing him right? “Seriously? You noticed me?”
JC chuckled softly and looked back at me. “Yeah. Does that surprise you?”
“Well YEAH. I’m invisible with my sisters around. They call me Casper.”
He laughed. “Casper, huh?”
“Yeah since I don’t have a twin I just sort of disappear.”
“Well if it helps you any, I noticed you.” JC smiled at me. I smiled back.
“It does. It does a lot. Thanks. Well I better go.”
“Thanks for the CD.”
“You’re welcome,” I said and turned around and walked away. Reaching the end of the driveway I turned back to JC’s home and smiled.
