Forbidden Love
Chapter 17

The next day morning, I woke up and glanced at the clock. 9:00. I yawned and sat up, looking around my room. I tucked my hair behind my ears and climbed out of my bed and I went downstairs to the kitchen where Amber, Alex, Annie, Allison sitting around the kitchen eating cereal.

“Hey Casper,” Amber said, when seeing me walk into the kitchen. “We missed you yesterday especially JC. We all went out and hung out.” I gave my sister a small smile and walked over to the cabinet and found a bowel and a spoon.

Ashley and April walked into the kitchen and over the cabinet. “Annie and Allison,” said Ashley “you get the door if someone knocks.” The girls groaned, knowing they couldn’t argue with their older sisters.

“What time did Momma and Daddy leave this morning?” Annie asked no one in particular.

“Around 5,” said April.

Amber looked at Ashley and April. “I was just telling Adrienne that we missed her yesterday especially JC.”

“That’s right,” said April. She looked at me as she took her seat beside me at the kitchen table. “You were with MARK yesterday. What’s up with you two?”

“Nothing,” I replied.

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah I believe you. NOT. You spent the whole day with him yesterday.”

“Have you forgotten who your a BOYFRIEND is?” said Amber. I looked at her.

“A very cute one if I say so myself,” said Ashley. “Yesterday would have been a perfect date for you and JC. We were all together. No one would have suspected a thing.”

“Well you should have called,” I said.

“JC did!” my sisters said in unison.

“We all did,” said April. “You turned off your phone after you talked to Alex. Why did you turn off your phone? If you didn’t want to go out with us you should have just said so.”

Ashley stared at me from where she stood across the kitchen, leaning her back against the refrigerator, her bowel of cereal in her hands. “You like him don’t you?”

I looked up at Ashley. “Like who?”

“Mark. You fell for him.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but closed it again in silence. I looked down at my bowl of cereal and stirred it. “I don’t know when it happened.”

April looked at me. “I bet it was when you stopped acknowledging JC after you and Mark started working on your project. You have been ignoring JC for two weeks, Adrienne. I didn’t want to believe it at first, but after yesterday I started to think about it and you have.”

“Adrienne,” said Ashley “if you like Mark that’s fine, but stop stringing JC along. He’s a nice guy he doesn’t deserve it.”

I looked back down at my cereal. JC was a nice guy, but we could not have a seriously relationship. There was too much sneaking around involved and with Mark there was no sneaking around, there was just us going out and having fun. I looked up at my sisters. “I want a real relationship and I only get that with Mark.”

“Not if you tell Mom and Dad about you and JC,” said Amber. She looked around at her sisters. “I don’t know about you guys, but I think they will be okay with their relationship.” Everyone nodded.

“Fine,” I said. I turned to Allison. “I’ll tell Mom and Dad about JC if you, Allison, tell Mom and Dad about Jason.”

“Are you crazy?! They would freak if they knew I was dating a 15 year old!”

“It’s the same with me and JC! Do you understand now where I’m coming from?” She nodded. I looked at my other sisters. “I can’t tell Mom and Dad.”

“Well then it’s either JC or Mark,” said April.

“If you’re making me choose I choose Mark. I want a real relationship.”

“Okay then,” said Ashley. “You choose Mark. Now you have to break up with JC.”

“I will.”

“When?” asked Annie.

“I don’t know!” I stood up, upset. “But don’t worry I’ll break up with JC. Gosh!” I left the kitchen.

The girls looked at each other and Ashley said, “Who here thinks Adrienne is choosing the wrong guy?” The sisters all raised their hands.
