Forbidden Love
Chapter 15
April walked into the house and her sisters walked in behind her arguing about their Halloween customs and walked upstairs to their rooms. She put her purse and keys down on the entrance table and looked up to see JC coming from Daddy’s studio. He looked upset, but April didn’t want to pry. “How’s your album coming along?”
“It’s coming along slowly, but surely.”
She smiled but JC didn’t return it. April put her hands on her hips and said, “All right JC, what’s wrong? You look upset.”
He shook his head and said, “I’m fine.”
The front door opened and Mark and I stumbled into the house laughing. “I can’t believe you did that!” I said with laughter in my voice.
“I can’t believe you started it!” Mark laughed.
I laughed and turned to April. “I left my change of clothes in my room. Tell Mom I’m going to Wade’s studio and won’t be home till late.” Mark and I ran upstairs to my room laughing.
April watched Mark and I disappear around the corner, and then she turned back to JC. He looked even more upset than before. She thought for a Moment and turned back to the stairs and watched me and Mark race back downstairs. April looked at me and I blew her a silly kiss before we ran out of the house together. “JC,” April said, turning back to him.
He shook his head. “Don’t,” he said, walking to the door.
“JC, wait,” April grabbed his arm as he walked passed her. He looked at her. “It’s not what you think. They are just art partners.”
“Art partners huh? Mark is over at the house more than I am and your Dad is helping me with my album. Adrienne doesn’t even acknowledge me anymore. I don’t even exist to her anymore since Mark and her have become art partners.”
“JC, Adrienne has just been real busy with her project. She really wants to go to New York for the zillionth time.” She chuckled. “But seriously you and I both know she’s just in for it for the trip to get out of school. She and Mark both. Friday they will present their “art” to their teacher and this will be all over with. I promise.”
He nodded. “I need to go. I some stuff I need to do.”
“Are you going to be okay?”
“I’ll be fine.” JC left the house, leaving April to wonder
what was really going on between her sister and Mark.
