Forbidden Love
Chapter 13

“Are you hungry?” I asked Mark as we walked into my house and I closed the door behind us.

“Yeah I could eat something,” he said looking around.

I smiled. “Follow me.” We walked to the kitchen and we put our backpacks down on the counter. I walked over to the refrigerator and said, “We have...” I laughed seeing inside the refrigerator. It was empty despite a few cans of soda. “Nothing.” I glanced back at Mark. “My Mom needs to go to the grocery store.” I grabbed a couple of Cokes and tossed one to Mark. “Maybe we’ll have something in the pantry.”

Mark laughed and looked around. “Where are your sisters?”

I shrugged. “Who knows?” I walked over to the pantry just as my Mom walked into the kitchen with two loads of groceries. Mark rushed over to help to her.

She smiled at him. “Thank you. Could you help me unload the other groceries from my car?”

“Sure.” He followed her out of the kitchen.

I walked over to the kitchen counter and began looking through the grocery bags. All I found was nutritional food. I made a face. “Where’s all the good stuff?”

“Right in front of me,” JC said, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist, kissing my neck.

I giggled and turned around. “We have to make this fast. My Mom and Mark are unloading the groceries from my Mom’s car.”

JC raised an eyebrow. “Mark? What’s he doing here?”

“Mark and I are in the same art class. Our Art teacher pair off the students and assigned a project that wants us to get to know each other and create some kind of art work that represents both our personalities.”

“That sounds like fun.” He smiled.

“Yeah, and the best part is whoever comes up with the best piece gets to go to New York for a week to visit the art museums. I’ve been before, but hell I get to miss school for a WEEK!”

JC laughed. “How long do you have for this assignment?”

“Two weeks.”

“That’s not much time.”

“I know that’s why Mark and I are starting today. We’re not wasting any time.” I heard the front door open and I gave JC a quick kiss. “You better go. I’ll come find you before you leave.”

“Okay.” He turned to leave, but I grabbed his arm and pulled him back into another kiss. He smiled at me and I handed him my Coke.

”Fake it.” I smiled at him and he chuckled and left the kitchen. My Mom and Mark walked in and put down the groceries. “Mom,” I said “did you bring any good food?”

She laughed and dug around in a bag and tossed me a bag of cookies. “Don’t spoil your dinner.”

I smiled. “I won’t. Come on, Mark.” He followed me out of the kitchen.
