Chapter 12
I watched JC and his friend help Mark into their boat and he thanked them and walked over to us. JC then turned to me and my sisters. “Are you girls okay?”
“Yeah we’re fine,” said Amber.
The pretty blue eyed, brunette standing next to JC turned to him. “Do you know these girls?”
He nodded. “Their Dad is Hector Mendez, he’s working with me on my album.”
I smiled at his friends. “I’m Adrienne and this is my sister Alex and Amber and our friends Brent, Carlos and Mark.
The brunette smiled at us and pointed to herself. “I’m Crystal and that’s Jamie, Lydia, Dave, Jesse and you know JC.”
“You guys just sit down and relax I’ll take us back to shore,” said JC as he turned to walk away, but Crystal grabbed his arm.
“Babe, it’s still early,” said Crystal. “Are you guys in a hurry to get back to shore?”
We glanced at one another. “No,” said Mark.
She smiled. “Will it be okay with you if we stay out here a little while longer?”
Mark looked at us and then back at Crystal. “Sure.” He smiled.
“Great!” Crystal and the others walked towards the back of the boat.
JC smiled at us. “You guys can just kick back and relax. If you need anything just ask and there’s drinks in the back.” We nodded and watched JC walk back to his friends.
My sisters and I turned to each other along with our friends. “What do we do?” we asked one another.
Mark eyed his friends and a smirk crossed his face. I saw the mischievous look in his eye, but before I had a chance to react, he grabbed me, picked up as I kicked and screamed and he threw me into the water. Alex, Amber, Carlos and Brent all laughed.
“Mark!” I yelled, shooting him the finger. He laughed.
“I love you too!”
“Fuck you!” He doubled over in laughter.
“How am I suppose to get back into the boat?!” I shouted.
“Duh genius,” said Amber with laughter in her voice “swim around to the steps.”
I rolled my eyes and swam around the steps. I climbed up and startled Jamie who was sitting next to the steps. She put her hand over her chest. “Oh my God you scared me. Where did you come from?”
I laughed. “I’m sorry I got thrown overboard.”
“I can see that.” I glanced over at JC. I could feel his eyes on me.
“Did your boyfriend throw you over?” asked Lydia with a smile
I smiled. “He’s not my boyfriend he’s just a friend. A cruel friend.”
Suddenly we all heard two screams and two splashes. I laughed. “And they just threw over my sisters.”
“Brent, Carlos and Mark suck!” I turned around and laughed seeing Amber and Alex climbing back into the boat.
Jamie smiled at us. “They are just being boys. They are picking on you because they like you. How old are you girls?”
“I’m 17,” I said.
Alex and Amber smiled. “And we’re 16.”
“All in high school?” We nodded. “Popular girls?”
We laughed, and I said, “No.”
“Whatever,” said Alex and Amber.
Amber pointed at me. “Popular girl. We just moved here and she’s already dating the popular guy at school which makes her the popular girl.”
I looked at my sisters. “I’m not dating Mark.”
“Yeah, but he wants to go out with you,” said Alex.
“Mark as in that Mark,” Lydia said pointing to the front of the boat. We nodded.
She chuckled. “Should have known. He’s really cute. Too bad he’s jail bait.”
“He’s eighteen,” I said.
“Oh really?”
Dave laughed. “Lydia, leave the poor boy alone.”
My sisters and I laughed and walked away. I took off my soaked shirt for first time that day as I reached the front of the boat. Mark turned to me and a smile spread across his lips. “I was beginning to think that shirt didn’t come off.”
”Ha-ha.” I adjusted the straps to my bikini top and dropped my shirt on the floor. Mark put his arm around me, but I pushed away. “Don’t.” I sat down on the bench.
“Why not? I thought you liked me?”
“I do but-” I turned around to see JC in the corner of my eye. Crystal was practically sitting on his lap and her arm around him and he didn’t seem to mind.
“But…?” said Mark. He sat down beside me.
I turned back to him. I shook my head. “Never mind.” I grabbed his arm and put it around me and folded my arms over my chest.
Meanwhile in the back of the boat JC turned to look at the front of the boat and saw Mark with an arm around me, and we were laughing. Jealously filled the pit of his stomach.
Crystal smiled to herself and said, “I think that Adrienne girl has a little crush on you, JC.” Their friends turned to them and laughed.
JC cocked his head to the right to see Crystal. “Why would you say that?”
“Because she keeps giving me a dirty look.” She chuckled. “Should I go over and tell her we’re just friends?”
“That’s so cute,” said Jamie. She smiled. “A little girl has a crush on JC.” She giggled.
“Little?” said Jesse. He laughed. “That girl is not little. If there were girls like her when I was in high school I would have lost my virginity when I was a freshman. That is if she would have had sex with me which I doubt. How old is she again?”
Lydia laughed. “Jesse, you’re horrible! She’s just 17. She’s just a kid.”
“Wait a year, bud,” said Dave with a smile “then you can go after her.”
“What about those celebrities couples like Hilary Duff and Joel Madden?” said Jamie. “Joel started dating Hilary when she was just 17. Joel is in his mid to late twenties.”
“Yeah, but they’re celebrities,” said Crystal “they can do whatever they want.”
“Adrienne’s Dad works in the music industry,” JC said speaking up. “She’s mature for her age. All her sisters all.”
“You mean there are more of them? There’s more like her?” asked Jesse. The girls laughed.
“No seriously,” said JC. “What would you think about a girl like Adrienne who had a Dad in music industry dating an older guy?”
Everyone thought for a Moment, and Jamie said, “Well a girl in Adrienne’s position I would understand if she falls for an older guy or the other way around because she was brought up in an adult world. Most celebrity children are.” Everyone nodded.
JC got quiet for a Moment and looked over at Adrienne, and then back at his friends. “So if I were to say Adrienne and I like each other you guys would say…?”
They all looked at each other, and Lydia said, “Do her parents know?”
“No.”
Crystal chuckled. “Now the dirty looks make sense.” She slid off JC’s lap. “How long have you two been seeing each other?”
“A few weeks now.”
“Who all knows?” asked Jesse.
”Her sisters and now you guys. No one else.”
“Do you guys go out?” asked Jamie.
JC shook his head. “Adrienne doesn’t want anyone to find out about us, not till she turns 18 which isn’t until May. Right now we’re sneaking around.”
Dave looked at his friend. “Are you okay with that?”
“Actually I am. I like her a lot. She’s not like any other girl I have dated before. She’s shy, but at the same time she’s sexy and hot and dangerous and she has this amazing bond with her sisters.”
Jamie smiled at JC. “It sounds like you really like her.”
“I do.” He looked over at me and caught my eye. We exchanged
smiles before I turned away to my sister who called my name.
