Forbidden Love
Chapter 11

“…So my Dad said we could hang out at the lake house some other time, but not today. He was having clients over. It was last minute thing.”

I smiled at Mark as he drove his Dad’s speed boat. “I understand. This is fine. Actually this is better than fine. This is AWESOME!” Mark laughed.

“Have you ever been on a speed boat before?”

“Yeah, but not in a long time.” I pulled my hair back into a messy bun. “Does your Dad let you take the speed boat all the time?”

“Yeah, he trusts me.” Mark glanced over at his right shoulder to see Carlos, Bent, Amber and Alex laughing and talking. He smiled. “So how do you like living in LA?”

“It took some time getting use to but it’s great. I still miss my friends back home though.”

“Yeah I understand. I would too. So what artist does your Dad work with?”

“He works with everyone. Usher, Pink, Britney, he’s working with JC Chasez right now.”

Mark gave me a look. “That guy from N SYNC?”

“Yeah.” I smiled.

“I hated that group.” He laughed.

“Why?” I asked amused. “I was huge fan.”

“I don’t know they were a bunch of sissy boys.”

I laughed wildly and rested my forehead on Mark’s shoulder for a brief second before lifting my head back up at Mark. “That’s mean. JC is a real nice guy.”

“I’m sure he is.” He laughed and glanced down at the controls. He slowed the speed down to a complete stop and turned off the engine.

I turned and looked around. Water surrounded us and I could see a few boats out enjoying the beautiful day.

Carlos jumped up from his seat startling Amber and Alex and he threw off his shirt. “What’s everyone waiting for?” he asked before he jumped into the water. We all laughed and followed his lead.

A couple of hours later, me, Mark, Brent and Alex sat in the speed boat talking while Amber and Carlos joked around in the water. Mark glanced at his watch. “What do you guys think about heading back and hanging out at my place?” We all looked at each other and nodded.

“Someone help me up!” called Amber from the side of the boat. Alex and I turned and pulled Amber up from the water into the boat while Carlos climbed inside.

Mark stood up and walked over to the controls. He turned the key, but the engine was cold. He looked at the gas gage and it was full. He tried the engine again, but it didn’t go anywhere. He hit the sheering wheel. “SHIT!”

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“The engine is dead.”

“What?!” we all screamed.

“Dammit.” Mark looked up and around. The nearest boat was probably a half-mile away. He glanced over his shoulder at us. “There’s a boat over there. We can try and get the people’s attention.”

Alex looked at Mark, scared. “Don’t you have a radio?”

“No.”

“Oh my God we’re going to die!” Amber and I looked at our sister. We rolled our eyes.

“Don’t be so dramatic,” I said. “We’re not going to die.”

Brent looked out to the boat. “They’re too far. They will never hear us.”

Mark looked at his friend. “Do you have a better idea?” He turned and began yelling and waving his arms. We all soon joined him and not too soon after the people on the other boat signal back.

“YAYYY!” Alex shouted jumping up and down. “They saw us. We’re saved!” We laughed and my sisters and I started gathering up our things.

The boat reached us and pulled up beside us. “Did you guys run out of gas?” a guy on the other boat asked.

“No we have a full tank,” said Mark. He looked at the three guys and the three pretty ladies with them. “Our engine died. Can you help us?”

”Sure no problem.”

Finally turning around, I looked up at the larger boat that pulled beside us and to my surprise I saw a shirtless JC helping Mark tie his speed boat to his boat. I got my sisters’ attention and they turned around. “Is that…” Amber said. I nodded my head hard.
