All I Want for Christmas Is You
Chapter Eight: My Mistake
Veronica poked me in my ribs. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Ow stop it you’re going to mess me up.” I said as I punched table 15’s order in on the computer.
“Do you like JC?”
“Excuse me?” I looked at Veronica.
“Do you like JC?”
“Yes, but-”
“No buts it’s a yes or no question.”
“Yes.”
“Then flirt with him drive him wild with desire.” I snorted and turned my attention back to the computer. “I’m serious! We’re eighteen! It’s Legal.”
“No,” I said flatly.
Veronica rolled her eyes at me and stood on her tip toes to peek over the plants sitting on the windowsill that looked out into the patio. “Justin is so-”
“Damnit!” Veronica turned to me and looked at the computer.
She laughed softly and pushed me aside and said, “Let me do it. Whose order is this?”
“JC’s,” I mumbled.
She nodded, deleting the order and starting over. “Why does he make you so nervous?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“You know. You like him, you like him A LOT.” Veronica laughed at herself and added, “You need to not be so nervous.”
Suddenly laughter erupted from the patio and me and Veronica peeked over the windowsill. JC was standing up shaking the back of his soaked shirt. We walked out to the patio and over to our table.
“Is everything okay?” I asked, with amused expression on my face.
Justin calmed his laughter and pointed to JC. “C had an accident.” Veronica and I looked over at him, and Veronica nudged me to go over to clean up the mess and she walked away.
I walked over to JC and gave him a small smile. “Are you okay?” I asked as I started to clean up the spilled tea.
“Yeah I’m fine.” He laughed softly.
I glanced at the back of JC’s shirt. “How did you, uh…Didn’t your mother teach you how to drink from a glass?”
Laughing, JC said, “Yes, but I didn’t spill my drink. Justin did. He came up behind me and “mistakenly” poured his drink down my back.”
“Mistakenly, huh?” I chuckled softly and shook my head.
“Amanda,” Justin called. I looked at him. “Could you bring me another ice tea?” He laughed.
A smiled spread across my lips. “Sure,” I said in a sweet tone. I finished cleaning up the mess and left the table. Moments later, I came back with a glass of ice tea for Justin. I walked up behind him and without any hesitation I poured the tea down his back. The table erupted in laughter and Justin jumped up from his chair and turned to me. I smiled sweetly at him. “Oops, my mistake. I’ll bring you another ice tea.” I walked away.
Justin shook his head laughing, and he turned to JC. “Did you tell her to do that?”
“No,” he said laughing.
“What, I figured I could do it too, and get away with it. I mean, my boss doesn’t care.” I said with a smile on my face. Veronica came out with shock on her face.
“Damn.” She said softly and everyone laughed. She looked at Justin and I looked at her.
“Hey he needed a bath anyway.” I joked and Justin gasped. I heard JC’s laughter get louder, and turned to see him laughing hard on the floor. “Wow.”
