All I Want for Christmas Is You
Chapter One: No You
I watched Veronica let down her hair and straighten out her black tie out of the corner of my eye, as we walked outside to the patio where table 15 was. “What are you doing?” I asked amused.
“Trying to make myself look presentable.”
“For who?” Veronica looked at me. I had no makeup unlike like her and my hair was pulled up in a clip. She reached for my clip, but I pulled back.
“Leave me alone.”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m never going to get a boyfriend with you hanging around me looking the way you do.”
I laughed and said, “You’re just jealous of my beauty.”
“Yeah that’s it.” Veronica chuckled and looked straight ahead at our table. “You’re going to do all the talking.” I looked at her, but before I could protest we reached the table. The people at the table turned to us and Veronica elbowed me the ribs to start talking.
I pushed my shyness aside and found my voice. “How are we doing today?” My eyes scanned the table and my eyes found JC. He was sitting at the opposite end of the table.
“We’re good,” said Justin. He smiled at me. I returned his smile and looked at everyone. “How have you girls been doing?”
I looked at Veronica, and then back at Justin and then at JC. “We’re doing very well.”
“That’s good to hear.” Justin flashed us smile and turned to his friends and introduced us to them.
Allan, who was sitting at the center of the table, chuckled softly. “Oh, so you girls know Justin?” We nodded with a smile. “I thought he was hitting on you girls.” Everyone at the table laughed.
Justin laughed softly and said, “I don’t bother with these types of girls. I don’t think my ego could take the rejection.” He looked at Veronica and smiled.
“Rejection huh?” Veronica smiled a dirty smile. “I’ll never reject you except if there are kids around.”
My eyes widened and I turned to my friend and everyone’s mouths dropped and a wave of laugher spread across the table. I nudged Veronica in the ribs, breaking her eye contact with Justin. “Knock it off we’re WORKING.”
“Sorry,” she said, and she looked away smiling.
I looked at everyone. “Is this going to be all on one bill or-?”
Justin kept his eyes on Veronica, but answered me. “No, separate.”
I nodded, glancing at Veronica. I nudged her and she looked at me and I mouthed, “Go on the other side.”
“No you,” she mouthed back. She then gave me a slight push from behind.
I groaned inwardly and walked to other end of the table. I smiled nervously at JC and his friends. “May I take your drink order?”
