All I Want for Christmas Is You
Chapter Three: My Type and More
I snuck to the bottom of the stairs and sat on the bottom step, peeking into the living room. Mrs. Cynthia and Veronica were talking to JC and Justin. The rest of the girls had gone outside to play which wasn’t a big surprise to me. The girls who stayed in the orphanage were all very young and they did not know who JC and Justin were. But Veronica and I did. We were big fans.
The front door opened and 5 year old Emily walked in. She smiled at me and sat down beside me, linking her arm with mine. Emily arrived at the orphanage a year ago because her mother couldn’t afford to care for her. She was immediately taken in by the other girls, but she attached herself to me because she thought I looked like an angel, which her mother use to tell her stories about.
“Why aren’t you playing outside with the other kids?” I asked Emily.
She shrugged, and looked into the living room. JC’s watch caught her attention and she stared at it. “My mommy’s boyfriend had a watch like that man’s. It cost a lot of money. He let me wear it once. It was real heavy.”
“Really? Wow.” I said with a smile as I eyed JC as he laughed with Justin, Mrs. Cynthia and Veronica. “Damn. He is so cute.”
Emily nodded her head, agreeing with me. “Yeah, but you swore.”
I laughed and turned to Emily. “I’m sorry. Wait. You don’t know who I’m talking about do you?” She giggled.
“No. Who are you talking about?” she asked wanting to know.
“JC.” I pointed him out.
“The one with the watch?”
“Yeah.”
“He’s okay. He’s not really my type.”
“You’re type? Girl, you’re 5 years old. You shouldn’t have a type. Do you even know what a type is?”
“No, but I hear you and Veronica talking about it all the time. Is JC your type?”
“Yep. He’s my type and more.” I turned my attention back at JC and smiled and then I saw Emily. My eyes widen in horror and I ran back upstairs.
