All I Want for Christmas Is You
Chapter Twenty: Lose Myself…
“I can’t believe I forgot my wallet,” JC said over his shoulder, as he unlocked the front door to his home.
I smiled as I looked around me. “It happens.”
He chuckled softly, pushing open the door and stepping inside his house. “Come on in.” I smiled and stepped inside and was instantly taken by beautiful interior of JC’s home. “My wallet should be upstairs. I’ll be right back. Make yourself at home.” JC walked away, heading upstairs.
“I wish,” I mumbled. I looked around and peeked into nearest rooms. The more I looked, the more I fell in love with the house. Walking into the living room I stopped when I realized something was missing. “Where’s the Christmas tree?”
“I don’t have one,” JC said, walking into the room. He smiled at me. “I’m never home during the holidays, so there’s no need really for a tree.”
“Oh.” I nodded and looked around me. I turned back to JC. “Not even a small one?” He chuckled. “What about a small tiny teeny tree? Microscopic even. You need a NASA telescope to see it.”
JC couldn’t help but laugh. He walked up to me, putting his arms around me. “Microscopic, huh?”
“Yeah.” I laughed.
“If I get this MICROSCOPIC TREE will you help me decorate it?” He asked as he began to trace kisses down my neck slowly.
I giggled. “Yeah.”
He looked at me. He smiled. “Well what are waiting for?” He kissed me on the lips and took my hand. “Let’s go.”
Later, I stood in the doorway of JC’s living room watching him struggle to get through the doorway with the 7 foot Christmas tree that we had brought. Quietly I shook my head and said to myself, “And he wanted to buy a 10 foot.” I glanced into the living room, seeing the spot I had cleared for the tree. If JC ever made it through the door. “Let me help you, JC.”
“No I got this,” he said over his shoulder as he strained to pull on the tree.
I folded my arms over my chest amused. “Okay well, which ever comes first, you breaking your back or you breaking your back giving me a shout. I’ll be in the living room watching TV and I’ll have 911 on speed dial.” I turned and walked into the living room.
“Stupid tree,” said JC as he continued to tug and pulled on it. After several minutes, he was about to give up and yell for help, but he gave one last hard pull and the tree pulled free knocking him into the wall with a loud THUD and knocking a nearby picture off the wall.
I ran into the foyer hearing all the commotion and I saw JC on the floor and a nearby picture broken. I couldn’t help but laugh. “Will you let me help you now?”
JC slowly stood to his feet. He looked at me. “I told you. I got this.”
“What you don’t have is sense. Either you’re going to kill yourself or destroy your house.”
“Don’t worry about the picture,” he said pulling the tree into the living room. “I know a guy. Now where are we putting this tree?”
“Right there,” I said pointing to the empty spot I cleared. He nodded and stood the tree up, but lost hold of it and let go, sending it cashing through the window.
I covered my face with my hands and said, “My God.”
Laughing, JC lifted the tree back up. “Don’t worry I know a guy.”
I looked at him. “JC, I’m beginning to wonder about you.”
“Aw,” he said and looked at me. He smiled. “I’m not that bad.” He settled the tree into the tree stand and stepped back and admired his work. “I told you I had this.”
I looked at the Christmas tree and cocked my head to the right. “Uhm, sweetie, it’s lopsided.”
JC looked at the tree. “No it’s not.”
“Yes sweetie, it’s-” He gave me a look and I closed my mouth. “Never mind.”
“Let me go get the ornaments that we bought.” I watched JC leave the room, and then I turned back to tree and laughed. I walked over and laid on the floor, reaching under the tree and adjusted the tree stand.
JC walked into the room and saw me on the floor, my skirt pushed up that inch or two higher. He stared and said nothing. I sat up and glanced behind me, feeling someone’s presences. I smiled at JC. “I didn’t you hear come back in.” I gestured to the tree. “How does it look? Is it straight?”
“Yeah,” he said, staring at me, his eyes filled with such want.
“Good.” I stood up and walked over to him, taking the ornaments from him. I looked through them and then stopped and smiled to myself. I looked at JC. I had noticed the way he was looking at me. “Why are you staring at me like that?”
A smile crept across his lips. “Am I staring?”
“Uh-huh.” I put down the ornaments and wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He drew me closer to him deepening the kiss, but then I pulled back. I grinned at JC. “We can pick this up later. Right now we have a tree to decorate.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.”
I smiled sweetly at him. “That’s not a threat is a person offers willingly, JC.” He laughed softly.
