All I Want for Christmas Is You
Chapter Sixteen: Jealous

I glanced at the clock on my night stand. 2:00 a.m. I looked over at Veronica’s bed. It was still made, and there was no sign she had been there. “Now I know she doesn’t get up this early.” I smiled and left my room, heading downstairs grabbing the cordless phone and heading back to my room. I scrolled through the numbers on the phone and found Justin’s cell. I dialed and waited for someone to answer. Justin picked up after the third ring.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Justin?”

“Yes, who is this?”

I chuckled softly. “The great Oz! It’s Amanda! Where’s Veronica?!”

“What do you mean?” He laughed softly.

“Justin, she’s not in her bed. I’m staring right at it.”

“Well she’s in A bed.”

My jaw dropped. “Oh my God, are you serious? I am hanging up now. Tell Veronica I am not covering for her.” I hung up the phone and fell back into my pillow.

The next morning, I woke up to hear the bedroom door open. I opened my eyes slowly and I saw Veronica sneaking into the room. “Did you have a good time?” I asked in a sarcastic tone.

Veronica jump slightly being startled. She put her hand over her chest. “Gosh Amanda, you scared me.” I sat up, looking at her. She smiled at me. “Yes, I had a wonderful time.”

“I’m sure you did.” I lied back down.

She looked at me, curiously sensing my tone. “What’s your problem?”

“Nothing.” I turned over onto my back and buried my face into my pillow.

“Oh, okay, because you almost sound-” I turned over and sat up.

“Almost sound what?” I asked, upset.

Veronica looked at me. “What’s wrong with you? You’re acting-”

“Acting what?! Say it! Just say it! Jealous? Is that what you want to say?!”

She put her hands up in defense. “You said it not me.” I narrowed my eyes at Veronica and lied back down. “Why are you jealous? There’s nothing to be jealous of.” She sat down at the foot of my bed.

Suddenly the phone rang and I reached for the cordless phone, I brought up last night. I answered it but no one was there and the phone kept ringing. I looked at the phone oddly.

“Oh!” Veronica laughed and dug into her purse. She pulled out a cell phone and answered. “Hey baby, calling me on my new cell phone already?” she giggled, standing up and walking across the phone.

“New cell phone?” I said. Veronica turned to me, smiled, and pointed to her cell and mouthed Justin. Clenching my teeth, feeling jealously rush through my veins I lied back down and pulled the covers over my head.
